Design Summit Header

At the 2024 Design Summit, participants considered scenarios 50 years into the future — from the predictable to the extraordinary. Each scenario was represented by a protagonist, who has lived through the full decades. Participants explore the ways in which education and technology, powered by our human values, are key enablers. The resulting publication — a guide for the next 50 years (2074!) — was released June 25, 2024.

February 28-March 1, 2024

In early 2024, Global education changemakers gather for the 100 Year EdTech Project Design Summit 2024, a highly interactive, invitation-only event.

Leaders, educators, futurists, designers, students, lifelong learners, visionaries –  explored the last 50 years of technology’s impact on education, observed where we stand today, and imagined the future of education for generations to come.

The new resulting publication is now in production, to be released Spring 2024.

Questions included:

  • What will the world look like 50 years from now?
  • What conditions do we need to create across education for community empowerment?
  • What role should technology play?
Collectively, participants are create a groundbreaking resource that will serve as a guide for the next 50 years of education.

Guided Storytelling Activities

will enable us to envision the next 50 years and beyond. These will be both imaginative and realistic explorations.

Working Design Sessions

will create a designated space to form guidance for approaching. emerging technologies, such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) and human-computer interfaces.

Inspirational Panels

on future scenarios that include the potential of impact of e emerging technologies on societal shifts, will encourage us to expand our perspectives on the course of influence on education.

Join us for a unique participatory model to assist us in our efforts to create a positive life journey for the students of today.  The model has us creating roadmaps for the youth of today to navigate their way to 2074.

Sample “scenario” stories will be provided, but each group will be challenged to chart a new story for an imaginary character.  Inside of three rounds of 45 minute sessions, sub-groups will work up a “road map” —  essentially a life for a character — with random options of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges set before their characters from each decade going forward.

What they will need to do, what they will need to learn, what they will need as values, emotional strength, health and well being, will be addressed by each group. The issues inherent in these challenges will be summarized and a report on the character — and what policies, principles, and processes will need to be in place — will be shared at the end of the conference.  The total summary will be shared with the larger education community.
